The Palmetto Senior Center
motto is “Love One Another”. Our quilter’s motto is, “Anything
For A Child”; and our senior center slogan is, “Old Age Ain’t
For Sissies!”
Our members are older adults that still believe they can make a difference. They are wonderful people with a wealth of knowledge, and a desire to live long, be healthy and help others.
Our members have been working on a project for the past two years. It is a memorial garden which is located just behind our center. Through our quilt raffles, craft sales, Hobo & Spaghetti suppers we have raised almost half of the money we need to complete the project. We were very fortunate to find a local landscaper who agreed to construct the garden in phases, as the funds became available.
Our project has been put “on hold” several times because we’ve learned of several children in the area that needed help.
Our quilters have made, donated, and raffled countless quilts for children/individuals/families in need, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to them.
Our quilts are made of 100 percent cotton with muslin backing.
We do two different types of quilts; pieced as stamped (otherwise known as a “cheater” quilt.)
The guidelines for donations for the quilts are as follows:
Lap quilt: $125.00
Twin: pieced: $200.00 – $225.00 stamped: $150.00 – $200.00
Full: pieced: $200.00 - $300.00 stamped: $200.00 - $250.00
Queen: pieced: $300.00 - $400.00 stamped: $250.00 – $300.00
